Wild and remote, the South Rupununi is home to a handful
of people spread out in small, often isolated communities. The highlight
of most visits to the south is a stay with Diane McTurk at Karanambu;
the journey to the lodge is by boat and passes through some beautiful
scenery. Further south the landscape opens up to form a grassy savannah.
Dadanawa Ranch, in the foothills of the Kanuku Mountains covers in excess
of 1700 square miles. Travel here and you really will feel a very long
way from home.
