Venezuela & Guyana
Venezuela is a vibrant destination, lie back on a beautiful Caribbean
beach or take to the skies to view the Angel Falls. Guyana, the only English speaking country in South America is way off the tourist radar. Totally unspoilt, meet Indian tribes or search for the elusive jaguar.

Country Combinations
Combining Venezuela and Guyana on the same itinerary is straightforward. There are daily flights with BWIA connecting both countries, flying via Trinidad. Crossing by land is also possible (see the suggested itinerary). BWIA have excellent flight connections throughout the Caribbean making a stop off at any number of beautiful islands quite possible, (See Caribbean section for further details). Daily flights also operate from Venezuela to other South and Central American destinations, such as Ecuador and Costa Rica. Finally, it is also possible to travel overland into Brazil from Southern Guyana.

Climate and When to go
Rainfall in Venezuela is usually greatest between April and October. In the south of the country you should expect a downpour at anytime. The Andes region is usually drier although rain can fall at any time. The best time to visit is usually between December and April. Guyana is hot and humid all year, rain should be expected at anytime. The heaviest rains occur between May and July, the secondary rainy season usually occurs between November and January.

Getting There
There are no direct flight services to Venezuela from the UK. It is, however possible to make the connection in one day without having to take any enforced stopovers. Iberia and KLM both fly the route, operating via Madrid and Amsterdam respectively. Guyana is not as well served, the only practical option is to fly with British West Indian Airways (BWIA) via Trinidad or Barbados. There is a daily service into Georgetown, however the flight does not connect all the way through every day.
