Mexico
Mexico is an intense and highly rewarding travel destination.
Well preserved Mayan and Aztec ruins are scattered across
the country. Wander the cobbled streets of lovely colonial towns,
relax under the palms of a sandy beach or go whale-watching
off the dramatic Baja Peninsula.

Country Combinations
Mexico has good flight connections with other Central American destinations. Land crossing from southern Mexico into either Guatemala or Belize is relatively straightforward. There is a regular flight between Cancún and Flores in Guatemala, take this and discover the ruins and beautiful scenery of this under-rated country. Flights also operate from Cancún to Havana. Cuba is a unique destination and makes for a great contrast, soak up the atmosphere in colonial Havana and Trinidad or head to the coast for a few days of relaxation.

Climate and When to go
Mexico is a large country and climatic conditions vary considerably depending on whereabouts you are. Generally the northern half of the country is warm and dry during the summer months. Winter can be cold and snow is a possibility. The southern region has a more tropical climate; rainfall is greater during the summer months. If you are considering travelling to the Yucatán region between August and November you should be aware of possible hurricanes. In recent times hurricanes have caused considerable disruption and damage and so this season is best avoided.

Getting There
Several airlines fly into Mexico City. British Airways offer the only direct services. Alternative carriers include Iberia via Madrid and Air France via Paris. A number of American carriers also fly the route. There are no scheduled direct services into Cancún, although it is possible to fly here via the USA. If visiting the Baja Peninsula you may like to consider flying first to Los Angeles and making your onward connection there.
