Tamarindo is the centre of the tourist activity. Still a relatively small town, there are no high rise hotels and there is still a feeling of space and tranquillity. Laze by the pool, explore the town or head out at night to look for turtles, there is a wide choice of hotels ranging from small pousadas to resort style properties. Further down the coast near the town of Jacó is the wonderful Villa Caletas hotel. Set amongst tropical forest the hotel has one of the best locations of any hotel in the Americas.

Villa Caletas

Perched on a cliff top and surrounded by rainforest, the Villa Caletas has wonderful views out over the Pacific. Based around a Victorian style mansion, the property also has a number of individual villas dotted around the grounds. The hotel has a wonderful infinity pool, below which is a 150 seater Roman amphitheatre.
