Brazil
From the icy waters around Cape Horn to the dry deserts of Peru,
Chile’s landscape is stunning and incredibly varied. The Pacific is
never far away and the Andes Mountains, which form the backbone
of the country, loom large. Sit back with a glass of Chilean wine
and take it all in.

A large island, Chiloé is a rural destination with a relaxed pace of life. Famous for its brightly coloured wooden churches, the landscape is a mixture of rolling hills, dramatic coastline and temperate rainforest. Local people have relied on the sea for hundreds of years and small fishing villages can be found all the way round the island. Castro and Ancud are the main maritime towns; the latter is guarded by a fine 16th Century Spanish fortress. On the west coast there are two national parks, with excellent walking trails through the thick forests. The island’s habitat is ideal for many different bird species. Flightless Ducks, cormorants, Magellanic and Humboldt Penguins have all made the island home.
