Partly restored the site has a number of impressive temples. Created in 1984 the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is a must for its high concentration of migrant and resident birds. Further north, near the border with Guatemala, Chan Chich is one of Central America’s best located and most fascinating lodges. Chan Chich, is sited deep in the rainforest within the site of an ancient Mayan settlement. The incredible mix of wildlife and ancient history is extraordinary.
